Divine providence and America’s future: Seeking God’s will in the voting booth

Many Christians can recite the Lord’s Prayer from memory. Part of the prayer reads, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

Trust that the Lord’s divine plan will come to fruition on Election Day, and certainly, Christians will have a significant impact on the result.

It is true that God is not with a political party or a group of people. God is with Christians. Even though crucial matters are at hand in the upcoming elections, labeling a specific party as the sole God-fearing representative of the nation would be incorrect.

However, it is true that most evangelicals keep pivotal matters such as the right to life and societal standards defined by God and the Bible in mind when casting their votes. This alone tends to separate voting blocs and sway Christian votes in one direction.

The truth is that the Bible should be the standard for Christians, and while we live in a nation that separates church and state, the Lord’s principles always supersede those of the government.

Christians do not need to spend much time pondering pivotal issues, as believers can solve most of life’s problems once they dive into the Scriptures.

Christians, like all other Americans, seek a safe land and a prosperous nation. Peace is always the goal of raising a family in a city that can allow generations to achieve the American Dream of prosperity.

The United States is still the freest nation in history. It is also directly connected to the Protestant Reformation, a safe haven for Pilgrims and Puritans and a country with one of the largest Christian populations in the world.

Every election matters, and sadly, some administrations have proven to be more hostile to biblical standards and the ways of the Lord.

Being such a large voting bloc in the country, Christians must earnestly pray for God’s will and guidance, including in the upcoming election. The Book of Romans teaches us plainly that government is in God’s hands.

The United States has had some of the most impactful Christian movements in the history of the church. There is certainly a place for another great revival. While the church and state are indeed separated, laws in place that create and defend Christian principles assist believers in such a movement.

While Joshua 24:15 is one of the most popular verses quoted in the Bible, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” we tend to forget about verse 24, “And the people said to Joshua, ‘The Lord our God we will serve, and his voice we will obey.’”

Notice it was not a house or a person but a commitment from the people. Of course, not all Americans are Christians, but those who are can unite and restore the nation’s commitment to biblical standards and Jesus’ teachings.

The Christian church is the body of Christ, and one of the most impactful tools Christians have is the right to vote, especially in our nation.

Christians should vote their conscience and, most importantly, vote with their faith as the fundamental principle when entering the ballot box.

Consider significant questions, like the impact your vote can have on spreading the faith and message of Jesus Christ. In what way can you honor the Lord by exercising your right to vote?

May the Lord bless the United States and ensure His will is carried out on earth and in heaven.
